The first Macedonian Christian, who was catechized and baptized on the banks of the river Zygactis in Philippi by the Apostle Paul, as mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles (ist’, 14-15).
Lydia came from Thyatira in Asia Minor and worked as a purple seller in Philippi in Macedonia.
She was declared a Saint by the Church on October 2, 1972 and her memory is commemorated on May 20.
Those with the name Lydia celebrate this day.
